iMac Pro 10.13.3 insists on showing hidden files

I used "command + shift + ." to show hidden files which works. When I was done I used the command once again to hide them which also works. However, they reappear across boots and restarts. Tried deleting the Finder .plist and relaunching the Finder but they still appear until I use the command once again.

TIA

iMac Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)

This is in Finder correct?

I'm not seeing the same issue. I tried to reproduce your issue by pressing Command+Shift+. in Finder which shows all files then again to hide them. Last, I restarted and Finder still shows the hidden files, hidden.

What happens if you open Terminal and type defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES; killall Finder then type the same thing replacing YES with NO?

The macOS 10.13.2 build that shipped on the iMac Pro is very likely a custom build that may not behave the same, as it would for those of us using 10.13.2, or 10.13.3 updated from the Mac App Store, or combo updates.

If the OP has subsequently updated to 10.13.3, then everyone with 10.13.3 will be on a level playing field (software-wise) to solve the same sticky hidden file issue. This issue had not occurred for me on any release of High Sierra.

It is definitely a different build. 4027 or something like that. I can't check because of the reinstall going on. I have a funny feeling there may be an issue with the iMac Pro 10.13.3 build. Going to find out once it's done.

Probably. Although in my experience sometimes things that worked fine will fail to work for some unknown reason and require at least a restart, a safe mode start and restart, or a re-install even on long term hardware. Such is life.

Speaking of, I have one iMac which refuses to show .svg previews despite being on the same macOS as others. Would make a great ad, "4 out of 5 Macs will show .svg's". 😝
