Can I retain my movie library in iCloud when switching region or country

Hi

I moving soon to a new country and was wondering if my purchased movies will be available with my Apple ID if I switch region country in the settings?

Thankful for any info.

Cheers

Just reporting back in case someone searching for the the same answers. This is what Apple support had to say:

If the exact same version of the item is available in the country you’re switching to, then you should be able to access and download it without paying again. This detail is important, as some content sellers may provide different versions of their content depending on the region.

The only way to know for sure if your specific purchases will carry over is to switch regions, and then see if previously purchased items give you an option to download them. If they ask you to purchase it instead, then it is a different version and cannot be accessed.

For this reason, we typically recommend that you physically back up any content you want to ensure carries over after switching regions.

Have a good day.

They won't be available in the store for redownloading, content is tied to the country as well as to the account (different countries could have different rights-holders). Before moving you should download anything that you want to keep (films, music etc.) and take your own backup copies of them (which you should be doing anyway, rights-holders can remove content from the store at any time, so even if you weren't moving countries there is no guarantee of being able to redownload content)

The thing is that keeping full 4K movies in my tiny MacBook Air hard drive is not possible. I can back them up to an external hard drive but then you loose the convenience of just streaming it on Apple TV whenever you want.

I’ve read in the community that you can redownload purchased apps in the new country and it will recognise that you have already paid for them and let you download them again for free. Is this true for movies as well? Have anyone tried this? I guess that way you can put them in you purchased list once more and have them accessible.
