iphone 6 screen recorder will not stop recording

Hi there.

Last night, I noticed that the screen recording function had been activated on my iPhone 6 with iOS 11.0.2. I thought I had stopped the function by tapping the red top of the screen and pressing stop, but I found earlier this morning that the screen was in fact still recording without showing any indication on the phone that it was. I have received very angry snapchat messages asking why I've screen recorded their snaps, however I had no idea this was occuring.

I opened control center to see what was going on and I found that screen recording had been enabled, with the options of "Camera Roll (with the Camera app icon)" and "Facebook" open to record, however the "Stop Recording" button did absolutely nothing after being pressed and the screen remained in the same state. The only way I was able to stop recording was by turning my phone off.

If this info is valuable at all, I received a message notification from someone repeatedly about 10 times on both Facebook Messenger (within the app) and on Snapchat for the exact same message.

I'm really concerned about this as it seemed like beyond just a glitch to me. I could just be freaking out, but was another entity recording my screen/what was coming through my camera's feed? It just seems crazy to me because I rarely use the screen record function and I can't imagine why I'd be unable to turn it off.
