Can i safely use the 10w apple ipad power adapter to charge my iphone 6s?

Hello, i have an iPhone 6s - been using the original charger (5w white one with white cable) - however i want to know if i can safely use the 10w apple power adapter box that i normally use to charge my ipad air 2 with, on my iphone 6s?

i mean SAFELY without damaging the battery?

i used to have an iphone 6 plus, and used to use the 12w apple power adapter i had to charge it at night, within a few months the battery expanded and lifted my display/LCD off the phone; Not 100% sure if its because of the extra wattage from the power adapter-12w one, but i had that iphone 6 plus since day 1 of it being released, so it was kind of old.. maybe that along with extra wattage caused that to happen, not sure exaclty.

anyway, i dont want to **** up my new iphone 6s, so if that means i cannot use the 10w or 12w power adapters i have from my ipad air 2', then ill rely on the slower 5w adapter that came with the 6s.

however it charges like twice as fast with my 10w power adapter, versus the 5w one.

thanks

Yes. My wife uses one (came from an iPad Mini 2) for her 6s Plus. It's just a constant-voltage power supply. That phone's DC-in should max out at 2100 mA, and the 10W adapter provides up to 2000 mA. The phone's charging circuits controls the current. It can't grab more current than the supply is capable of, but it can always limit what it takes in. If you gave it a 100W power supply at 5V it should be safe unless there's something wrong with the phone's charging circuits.

Apple says it's fine:

Charge your iPhone with an iPad or Mac notebook power adapter - Apple Support

If you were going to buy one, I'd recommend the 12W one since it costs the same as the 10W or 5W. Also - Apple computers with USB 3.X ports will charge any iOS devices at 2100 mA (10.5W at 5V) when connected directly. If it wasn't safe, Apple would limit it.
