Mid-2007 24" iMac as external monitor for 2012 MacBook Air?

Is there a way to use a mid-2007 24" iMac as an external monitor for a mid-2012 11" MacBook Air?

MacTracker lists the iMac's "display" connections as:

1 - Mini-DVI (DVI, VGA, Composite and S-video with adapter)

and the Air's "display" connections as:

Thunderbolt digital video output

What cable(s) would I need to do this--if it's possible at all?

(iMac is running Snow Leopard; Air is running El Capitan -- if that matters.)

Thanks.

All the adapters won't help. The video port is "Video Out." Without internal firmware all the adapters in the world won't turn it into "Video In."

Yes, I know re no target mode before 2009. (I should have mentioned that).

I understand that (if it's possible), using the 24" iMac as an external monitor may well require a couple of strung-together adapters (or something equally complicated).

?Thunderbolt-to-MiniDVI?

?Thunderbolt-to-[Some-Additional-Device-Or-Converter]-to-MiniDVI?
