If the phone is paired to the car, it is very possible then that the maps are attempting to send the instructions to the vehicle speakers. If you look at the route information at the bottom of the screen, and you scroll upwards, you should see several buttons, including nearby POIs and other buttons for the map. On the bottom right I have a button for Audio, and it allows you to set the volume right there, and I'll test later on, but I'm pretty sure that it allows you set the audio source.

Okay, I'm guessing that when you say Sound in Settings, you are referring to the sound in Maps? If you go to Settings>Maps, then select Driving & Navigation, the Navigation Voice volume is set there. Also, is the phone paired to Bluetooth in your vehicle? And lastly, what troubleshooting have you tried?
If you don't see a choice for audio to Bluetooth, I would check with Honda. I've read numerous posts about how infamous Honda's are with Bluetooth connections with the iPhone. They may need to check to see if you have the most current software for your audio system. I would go out and check my vehicle, but we are getting quite a snowstorm here in the Midwest, and I'm not going out in the driveway to check my vehicle.
Key word in my question is “voice.” The route is displayed but no sound advises turn by turn instructions. I have turned on everything remotely pertaining to sound in Settings.
You're welcome. Glad you were able to identify the problem. What is the year/make of the vehicle you are using the BT in? Is this a stock radio in the car, or an aftermarket device?
What do you mean it isn't working? You are not hearing the guidance, or it does not show the route, or what? You need to provide more information, as well as indicate what troubleshooting you have already tried so people are not recommending things you have already tried.
As a side note, I just used my Apple Maps on Thursday for a 3 hour trip and the voice guidance was working just fine on an iPhone X with iOS 11.2.5.
I set the sound in IOS settings to “loud.” When I ask Siri for directions to a destination, she gives a voice response and shows the route but does not provide subsequent voice instructions—only visual. I have paired my phone to the car, but I’m not interfacing with the car’s system. I don’t know what other trouble shooting I can do. I’ve been using Apple and Google Maps for years but have never had this problem. My phone’s IOS is up to date, and I’m pretty sure these apps were working normally prior to the latest update.
It’s a 2017 Honda Pilot. The Nav/Audio is stock touchpad.
I will check with Honda. Stay out of the snow. I can survive without Bluetooth. Thanks again for your help.
You're welcome. If I come up with any additional information, I'll post it here.
Looks like Bluetooth is the culprit. When I disable bt, I get voice turn by turn directions on the phone. When I plug in lightening to usb, I get turn by turn on the car’s sound system. I’ll figure out the Bluetooth problem later. Thanks for your help.
Voice guidance is not workin on Maps
