Centering a Table in Numbers???

How do I center a table vertically and/or horizontally on a page in Numbers (version 4.3.1)?

I can accomplish this merely by changing the document's margins, but that is a "clunky" way of doing it and it also messes up the headers and footers. Any thoughts?

Hi Mark,

Step 1. Use alignment guides.

Numbers > Preferences > Rulers

Step 2. In Print Setup (command p) set your preferred page size and margins. Click on Done to return to your document.

Step 3. Calculate the midpoints of the page height and width. I am using A4 paper (210 x 297 mm) with 2 cm margins all round (funny how page size is mm and margins and rulers are cm, so I work in cm).

Step 4. Drag Alignment guides from the horizontal and vertical rulers.

When you drag objects around on the canvas, they will "snap" to the alignment guides.

The alignment guides don't print.

Ian's answer works perfectly when the scale is set at 100%, however there's 1 extra step needed to get the midpoints if you decided to reduce the scale to fit your table into a single page.

Let's stick with A4 (21cm wide x 29.7cm high) but for my example I'll set all the margins to 1cm and we'll work on a scale of 85%.

To get the midpoints in this case you need first take the page size and the margins and divide by the decimal of the scale percentage.

So if I were to do the horizontal midpoint I'd need to start with the following

21 ÷ 0.85 = 24.71

1 ÷ 0.85 = 1.18

Now from here you do the midpoints as normal, so my horizontal midpoint for a 85% scale would be

(24.71 - 2.36) ÷ 2 = 11.18

Hope this helps,

Matt
