WiFi slower on MBPtb than iPhone X

Hi everyone,

Landlord just set up a new WiFi mesh network because the old router setup wasn't sending signal to my floor.

Now that the new network is set up, my iPhone X will get speeds of 100+ Mbps in my bedroom, which is connected to the room where the mesh network unit is. From the exact same spot, my MBPtb will get 12Mbps.

What am I missing here?
