iPhone 6 gps not working but apple "genius" says it is.

Went to the Apple Store in Cerritos ca and sat there for an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time for someone to talk to me. Gps has not been finding my location. I've done everything u can do with settings and reinstalling that u possibly can. I've been asked the same questions about 100 times between Apple chat, Apple Store, and Apple "certified " Best Buy techs. 1 month of frustration later I find out that the part that's responsible for gps on iPhone 6 is probably not working and is on the board so is not replaceable. How convenient Apple. I guess I have to buy an IPhone 8 or X huh? Not this time Apple and never again. I vow to never step foot in another Apple Store again or purchase another Apple product. Your customer service is some of the worst I have ever experienced. And corporate's handling of the faulty hardware is a reflection of the greed that your company possesses. It definitely starts at the top and works it's way down. I'm just mad that it took me so long to realize how greedy of a company Apple is and the vision Steve Jobs had for Apple is no more. Never again Apple.

Just look up what a "bathtub curve" is. Failures happen with any product, including high quality ones. They get taken care of under warranty, and of course some people get the AppleCare extended warranty to go beyond the warranty period.

Apple has some pretty generous policies. If I dropped my iPhone 7 hard and it doesn't, I could get an out of warranty replacement in the US for $319. If you really feel that the GPS isn't working, you might be able to persuade them to let you buy an out of warranty replacement for $299 (if you're in the US).

Im sorry your GPS is not working as intended. But please remember one thing. Your iphone 6 plus is meanwhile not new. Gadgets can malfunction after some years. Nothing holds forever. And i have to admit that Apple has one of the very best service. I never encountered a issue they could not help. Maybe you must make a video how your gps dosent work on the road. Leave them no chance for excuses. Wish you much luck.

To take the issue on the road (and record upload it) may make for some curious

or funny video that may have millions of followers online, and a portion of fame.

However if you don't participate in the ownership game, you'd never know for

sure when the game has changed ~ or when those issues you've found in your

experience with Apple, had been addressed. Or if they're hardware or software.

Not sure if you should include those best geek dudes in your video without mention.

Did it help to see if you could use GPS with cell data and not wi-fi?

Tried to keep all those extras turned off in my iPhone. Except when I needed a browser

and found all that was offline because I was out of wi-fi range. Hard to search for phone

number by name of business, without the ads in search engine of browser, loading up. 🙂

In my rant I forgot to mention Apple "genius" told me gps is working fine after I told her of course it's working fine. There is wifi everywhere and the problem is when I'm on the road. So no way to prove it to this "genius". I get on the road after 3 hours of the sh** show they call the Apple Store and my maps does not know my location. Thanks Apple Genius for telling me my GPs is working. I contacted Apple Chat at about 10 am and I got back from the only Apple Store that had an available appointment 20 miles away at 10 pm. 10 trips to Apple Certified Best Buy geek squad techs and the final verdict is I have an unrepairable iPhone 6 gps. I have a $1000 iPod. Never again Apple. I vow to never make another Apple purchase for me and my family til Apple changes the way it does business.

Yes, I kinda know what you mean by not wanting the kind of attention

that some video online could bring; notoriety or other stuff, too. And

you'd probably have to get tiny costumes for your iPhone so he'd go

on stage with some degree of flair. ~ If not, he'd probably act badly.

And my iPhone 5C sometimes isn't talking to me at all... Even when I

remember to give him juice from the grid. Had to get him a new straw.

These devices. They just seem to take a lot more time than they give. 😉

May i ask when you purchased the iphone 6 plus? And what exactly do you expect apple to do? Let’s say you bought your iphone 2-3 years ago. The normal warranty expires after 1 year (europe 2 years). If anything happens after the warranty time the responsibility for repairs is with the owner of the mobile. I can’t see why apple should repair it for free or exchange it with a working unit. Who tells the issue did not arise because of self inflicted problems (heat, water, dropped or equivalent). And you can’t expect that every single sold apple device works forever. Even we humans have a expiration date lol.

Hi K. Thanks for the reply. After diagnostics being ran remotely, at Apple Store, and three times at Best Buy, I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue. I called u break I fix iPhone repair and they told me that the problem was the component that provides gps just goes out and is unrepairable because it is on the board and they recommended that I just buy a new phone. I guess they just go bad. As for the YouTube video, I'm not really looking for that kind of attention. Thanks again for the reply.

Hi thanks for the reply. After chatting online with Apple and visiting the Apple Store, I know that I will not get anywhere. I showed them screenshots of my maps in the parking lot of the mall where Apple Store was located to prove my gps was not functioning and they were dumbfounded because gps was working fine once I stepped into the mall with all the strong wifi signals. At the end of my visit I asked if it even mattered if it was malfunctioning and they told me that even if the gps was bad, the only thing I could do is buy another replacement for $299. Winner Apple!
