Unable to delete calendar invitation on iPhone

I don't think this is about which OS you are using, that is for sure that if you delete an event, your colleague would be notified.... unless if you are not using notification trick like you can do it in outlook;

Configure your Outlook to “Work Offline” status.

Go to your calendar and select the meeting you want to cancel and double click to open it.

In the popping up Meeting window, click on the “Cancel Meeting” option.

Then click “Send Cancellation” button.

Now the cancellation email will be stuck in the Outbox, because right now you are working on “Work Offline” status, so go on to the Mail box andopen the Outbox folder.

In the Outbox folder, right click on the email and then right click on the invitation notification mail and select Delete option from the right-clicking menu.

Hope that it works for you, that also should sync with your iPhone.

I'm pretty sure if you delete the event, your colleague will be notified. Just ignore the date on your calendar if you don't want this person to know you aren't going.

I guess I didn't realize this is an exchange event. In that case, you can only get rid of it by declining it, which will send a notification to the person who invited you.

Yes of course you can delete a calendar event from iPhone Calendar. Your question was whether you can delete it without the person who invited you to not get a notification if you do.

To delete an event on your calendar, simply open the calendar, tap on the event and then Delete Event at the bottom of the screen.

The only way to delete it is to decline it if it is an MS Exchange calendar.

Go to Settings > General > Restrictions > Calendars and make sure you have Allow Changes checked.

Why don’t you just have someone create a fake event and invite you to it, then try to decline it and see what happens? That would’ve answered your question so much faster.

Your Exchange administrator may have installed a device management profile that places this limitation on calendar events. I have deleted Exchange events, and I am asked if I want to notify the organizer.
