Delete portion of Numbers cell

I’m working on a Numbers spreadsheet that was imported from an Excel document. Specially, there are a few hundred email addresses that need to have text deleted from the cells that contain the addresses. Below is an example:

Joesmith@email.com- copied email from obsolete STU.PEM field”

The phrase inside the quotation marks is what I want to batch delete. Ultimately, the goal is to have the email address column sorted in a way that allows me to copy and paste them directly into a Mail message.

does every row contain the exact same phrase?

Joesmith@email.com- copied email from obsolete STU.PEM field”

Bob@email.com- copied email from obsolete STU.PEM field”

sam@email.com- copied email from obsolete STU.PEM field”

timtom@email.com- copied email from obsolete STU.PEM field”

if so, then create a column to the right of the the column with the emails. this new column will be used to copy only the email portion.

assuming the emails are in column A and the new column is column B, do something like this:

User uploaded file

B1=LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1, 1)−1)

to fill down, select cell B1, copy

select column B, paste

now select column B, copy,

select another column, then use the menu item "Edit > Paste Formula Results" to "freeze" the cells so they contain the result of the formulas
