Project and Compound Clip Not Exporting Properly?

Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to fix it?

Problem:

1. When I try exporting a project I've been working on that's also set as a compound clip, FCPX only exports about 7 seconds of the nearly 2 minute video.

2. There are also times with this same exporting process where the exported file doesn't make it to it's destination.

3. The Background task also shows no activity when I do "Share" or export the project

So far I've tried:

1. Numerous times to build a new library, event and project file and imported all supporting media files

2. Updating both FCP and the operating system

3. Exporting with a different codec

4. Exporting to different destinations

5. Going clip by clip through each part of the project to determine if there are corrupt files

6. Updating Video/Audio/Title Roles and Subroles

7. Selecting a range to export

Any ideas...?

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

Success Guys and TY for your help!

Solution: Removed opening custom title and replaced with standard title. Broke down project into multiple compound clips. Created a new event and a new project and dragged the compound clips into the new project. Once in, I was able to export as normal.

Is this only one project that does this, or all projects?

Trash your preferences and reopen the library. Select the project in the browser and use the share function from there. What happens exactly? What do you see at the bottom of settings panel that shows what you're exporting?

Hold Opt-Cmd as you launch the application.

I meant at the bottom of the sharing settings window. There’s a line of information that shows what you’re exporting. How long it is. What the settings are and the estimated size.

Do you mean that the whole contents of the project are a compound clip?

A few ideas:

-try making a new project and copy and paste; see if the new project exports

-open the compound clip in its own timeline, make sure everything is there and try sharing from the compound clip timeline

-break apart the com

TY for your prompt Reply Tom;

1. It's only with this project. I tried with another with no problems

2. I'm not sure how to trash the preferences when I go into the preferences section

3. I have been exporting from the browser window. When I do this, I see the background test momentarily advancing, then it's over which tells me it's not nearly long enough to have exported the full file.

4. I do not see anything at the bottom of the settings panel when exporting.

Hi Tom,

I was able to reset the preferences using the method you passed along. TY.

I have not been successful at a full export despite the changes. One thing to note: When I do attempt export, in the Background Tasks, it does go through the rendering process, just not the sharing process (at least not long enough to share the entire file. For example, if the file is 274MB, It will share less than 1MB of information which just happens to be a special effect sound).
