mainstage 3, 2 keyboard setup: playback keys drop out when using instruments

i am using:

macbook pro 2012

high sierra 10.13.3

m-audio keystation 49

m-audio keystation 88

focusrite scarlett 2i4

i have a concert with many patches. i have the key station 49 triggering playback wav's on the top octave. but when i switch to a different patch and try to use that upper octave with an instrument (exs24), those keys will not play any notes/sounds. i'm sure i have something assigned/mapped wrong, but for the life of me i can't figure out what. any advice?

thanks for your help. the "override parent mapping" box is greyed out (still can't figure that out, but i'm past it), but i had the "midi through" and "send value to" settings wrong in the hardware inputs.

really appreciate your response...i learned a lot just trying things based on your recommendation!

Do you have the Playback plug-in inserted at a concert, set, or patch level?

Sounds like your mappings are taking precedent. If that's the case you need to override those mappings.

It all depends on your specific setup.
