Preview - reviewing and then deleting

A question about Preview, is it possible to view a jpeg and then whilst still within the Preview application delete the jpeg and move to to the next jpeg in the folder? I can do this easily in Windows, but not so in macOS 10.13.3.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

That's a lot of .jpegs. I don't know why it would be sluggish, but of course yours are probably very high resolution images. You would be better off asking a professional photographer. Fortunately we have many of them participating on this site.

From the description of your needs, it seems to me that I would use the Photos app before attempting to shoehorn Preview into that kind of service. Preview is very broad-based and not ideally suited for that specific a task. I suggest posting your question in the Photos for Mac forum. Photos might not do what you want either, but you are certain to find more qualified opinions from one of that forum's more experienced participants.

This seems to work. With Windows you can view the image in full screen mode and then delete from there and move on to the next photo. So I've just tried your suggestion and it works but it makes the laptop a bit sluggish as I have over 500 jpegs that I want to work through. I understand that obviously I can reduce the number of photos I open with Preview but I guess I would prefer not to change my workflow unnecessarily.

If Preview can't do it then I suppose my question should be for a recommendation for software that can do it? Alternatively I can boot into Windows, do this task and then reboot into macOS - but that seems like a lot of effort for a relatively simple task.

Thanks. This doesn't really do it (unless I'm doing something incorrectly) as I do get a view of the jpeg in Coverflow view, but it isn't anywhere near full screen. I'm needing to have a decent look to see if people are blinking or if there are small technical issues with the image.
