Replacing MPEG Streamclip

Right at the moment?

I’m using a first generation Mac Pro: and use MPEG Streamclip as a lightweight video editor to chop small .mov files — one to two minutes in length — into smaller MP4s.

Smaller MP4 that I can then import into iMovie ’11.

MPEG Streamclip’s done me fine, as I can select the needed sections with a little more precision than I can with Quicktime.

I’m soon to upgrade my mac: to a newer model.

And … ?

I’d like to switch to a newer light weight editor: as Streamclip hasn’t had updates, recently.suggest

Can anyone some: preferable free, preferable open source, and PREFERABLY?

Just as easy to use.

Thanks in advance
