Left AirPod blasted corrupt audio

I was watching YouTube today and I went to place the left AirPod in my ear (I only put one AirPod into my ear, left the right AirPod in the case) but as soon as I placed the AirPod in my ear it played an extremely loud sound that sounded almost like an explosion (it was REALLY distorted but hurt my left ear a lot)

Reinserted AirPods I’m charging case and performed hard reset. Reconnected AirPods and played music via Spotify. Issue resolved.

I’m experiencing the same issue — but in my case, I connected my AirPods, made a phone call, they worked fine. Then switched to Spotify and that’s when the issue occurred. Just the left AirPod emitted sound and it was extremely loud (uncomfortably loud) distortion. Right AirPod emitted no sound, even though connected.

Wanted to test the issue further, so clicked on a Facebook video and got the same issue. I disconnected AirPods and re-connected, same issue in Spotify. Made another phone call and the sound was completely fine. Switched back to Spotify and issue continued.
