Converting live photo .mov file into .jpg

I had accidentally taken a lot of Live Photos with my iPhone, which after importing to my MacBook were using up a lot of memory. I tried everything I could think of to turn the Live Photo (mov) files into single-frame jpg files. After a lot of fussing, I stumbled onto a relatively simple solution:

In the Live Photos folder, toggle an image (or select a batch of images by toggling the various images while pressing Command button) you are wishing to convert. In the File pull-down menu, choose Export and a window pops up to allow you to export as a single photo, set resolution, other parameters and a destination. Hit Export (check to see that the destination file is properly set) and be patient, since the files might be fairly large and the conversion takes a little time. A window will pop up to tell you when the Export is completed. You might open the destination file to preview the images (and resolution) to make sure everything worked right. Clicking the right button on the Live Images selected files will allow you to then delete them if they are no longer needed. Good luck!
