Can I pair the HomePod with my MacBook Pro?

You can connect the HomePod to a Mac two ways:


1:

Connect it to iTunes Via iTunes (Airplay Menu) This way you can also connect more then 1 HomePod up to it and play the same song with them is no lag (still in mono mode tho (not stereo)

2:


The second way is via the volume icon the on top bar on the computer and just select the HomePod and a audio output. Tho with the current "Airplay 1" There is a bit of a audio delay (lag) doing it this way since if you would open safari and play youtube videos the sound will lag about a second (or more) and not be in time with the video along with if you pause a video then sound is take a couple of seconds to finally stop. (this should be fixed with Airplay 2)

Or via "System Preferences" > "Sound" > "Output"

AirPlay other content to HomePod from iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, and Mac

System requirement

  • iPhone 5s or later, iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation), iPad Air or later, iPad mini 2 or later, or iPod touch (6th generation) running iOS 11.2.5 or later
  • 802.11 Wi-Fi Internet access
