Multi-page booklet - how to get Pages to stop assuming I want to go in order from first page to last.

I'm trying to create a multi-page booklet with 8/12 x 11 paper stacked and folded in half.

This means the last paragraph is on the left and the first paragraph is on the right of the first piece of paper and the back has page 2 on the left and the second to the last page on the right.

For a booklet with 3 sheets of paper, there are 12 pages:

1st Page - Front

Left = Page 12 Right = Page 1

1st Page - Back

Left = Page 2 Right = Page 11

2nd Page - Front

Left = Page 10 Right = Page 3

2nd Page - Back

Left = Page 4 Right = Page 9

3rd Page - Front

Left = Page 8 Right = Page 5

3rd Page - Back

Left = Page 6 Right = Page 7

I can create a thread from page 1 to page 7 but when I add page 8, it keeps on forcing me to chose between pages 4 or 5. Page 8 is not even an option.

Is there any way to make a booklet like this? The pages 4 used to let me do this. Pages 5 never did so I kept on using Pages 4 but my new laptop with Sierra doesn't let me use Pages 4. Argh.

Hi Eileen,

I can create a thread from page 1 to page 7 but when I add page 8, it keeps on forcing me to chose between pages 4 or 5. Page 8 is not even an option.

Are you using linked Text Boxes? In Pages 5 (and Pages 6) Text Boxes will not link backwards (as they did and still do in Pages 4). The only thing I can suggest is to use a separate (non-linked) Text box on each of the 12 pages and manually adjust (Cut and Paste) the content until you compose your booklet.

I agree with Gordon that "Create Booklet" may be helpful.

Pages 5 and Pages 6 do not support facing (mirrored, left and right) pages, but perhaps that is not a concern for you.

Pages 4 (Pages '09) works for me on a MacBook Pro under macOS Sierra. Perhaps you could use a USB memory stick to copy (or drag) Pages '09 from the Applications folder on your old machine to the USB stick. Create a new folder in the Applications folder (name it iWork '09) on your new machine and paste (or drag) Pages '09 to that folder. (No guarantees, but I think that is what I did when I got a new Mac 😕).

Here is the Dock on my new machine:

Numbers 2, Pages 4, Numbers 4 and Pages 6 all run happily together. Just be sure which version you launch when opening a document.

As far as I know there are only two ways to do this:

1. Install Adobe PDF Reader

2. Export your document to PDF

3. use the "Print Booklet" function of Adobe Reader.

That's all free.

I use an app called "Create Booklet" (from the App Store). Unfortunately it now costs £9.99 - I was lucky, it was on offer for nothing when I got it!

Hope this helps
