Creating a simple 4-page booklet

I knew how to do this in AppleWorks, but Apple has changed many things in Pages.

I want to do a very simple "booklet" that consists of 4 pages on a single sheet of 8.5" x 11" paper folded in half. (In other words, two pages on side A, two pages on side B. )

I could simply create a normal 8.5 x 11 document, add four pages worth of text, and then in the Print dialog, under the Layout pop-up, choose 2 Pages per Sheet. Unfortunately, when the printed document is folded, the pages are in the wrong order.

I know that Pages has linked text blocks capability, which could be a way of doing this. Unfortunately, in the Choose a Template dialog, I see no template specifically for this, so I don't know where to start.

Is there a step-by-step tutorial somewhere on how to do this?

This template will give you a basic foundation for a single fold booklet.

The visible parts in this image are Page 4 on the left and Page 1 on the right.

Page 2 is on the left, and page 3 is on the right when you 'ope the folded card (or booklet) to see the inside.

The template contains the image shown and the mask that is that image's container.

There is a Text box on the front page to hold the "You're invited" text.

The two colour blocks are 'shapes' placed behind the text box and the image

On the left, there is another text box, containing the 'how to use' instructions.

Any text box may be linked to another, BUT text flow from one box to the next will occur only in the direction top to bottom of the document as it appears on your screen, making that feature not very useful for your task. Easier to use separate text boxes on each page.

Barry
