Activity app not crediting data from Garmin Connect in rings; not syncing with MyFitnessPal

My activity app is showing that I completed a workout through the sync with my Garmin 920xt, but it’s not closing my rings. It’s also not syncing with MyFitnessPal. The data from the Garmin Connect app is being captured in both the Health and Activity apps, but it is not closing my rings. If you allowed uploading attachments, I could upload my screenshots.

Hi

It may help to move your preferred source (for example: MyFitnessPal) for any given metric above other sources in the data sources list for that metric. For example:

Manage Health data from multiple sources on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch - Apple Support

Otherwise:

Garmin provides the following information about data syncing:

For help concerning use of Garmin Connect Mobile (a third-party app) in conjunction with Apple Watch, including in respect of any data syncing issues in either direction, I suggest that you consult Garmin's support resources and/or contact Garmin:

Official Garmin Support | United States | Support Center

For assistance with questions about using MyFitnessPal (a third-party app) in conjunction with Apple Watch, including in respect of data syncing issues, I suggest that you consult the developer's app description and support resources.

If your question has not already been answered there, then you can post your own question for the developer's support team.

Third-party apps

Some third-party apps offer the ability to receive Move goal credit (but not Exercise credit, due to programming / API limitations) on your Apple Watch for workouts that are undertaken whilst it is not being worn. For example:

Fitmanual - Complete the Move Ring every day on the App Store

Other such apps may be available in the App Store. To browse and search for this and/or other third-party apps with the results pre-filtered to include only those iPhone apps that also include an app for Apple Watch, use the Watch app on your iPhone. Apps can be searched by keyword or app name via the Search tab. Follow the instructions here to add and use compatible apps on your Apple Watch:

Use apps on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Add data manually

Workouts can also be added manually to the Health app on your iPhone, which aggregates all health and activity data from your Apple Watch, iPhone and any other sources:

To add a workout, go to: Health Data (tab) > Activity > tap on Workouts > tap on the "+" sign (upper-right) > enter your workout data.

Use the Health app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support

Okay. Thanks. I wish this would be corrected though. During my swim workouts it’s challengeling to wear two watches...Garmin and Apple. I choose to use my Garmin because I’m training for a triathlon. I do wear both while running and cycling, but it is a bit of a hassle. It’s too bad you can’t also add a workout manually into the Activity app. Most other exercise apps allow you to do that. Plus my Apple Watch’s battery died during my last tri, so it’s not powerful enough for triathletes. Apple should consider an update on the Activity app to correct the issue of always having to wear it.
