HEVC doesn't appear to be supported on my end. Help would be appreciated!

I have a MacBook Pro Retina (mid 2012) on High Sierra, and an iPhone 6s Plus on iOS 11. I have video files ranging from 480p to 1080p all with roughly 30 FPS or less, encoded as HEVC. Both my iPhone and MacBook won't play the files. On my Mac, it's an unsupported file error, and on my iPhone, the video just won't render leaving me with a black screen and audio. They play just fine on my other non-apple devices. What could be going on?

Missed that "little" 😊 point. I agree. You should be able to view the vids. It appears apple removed references to mac hardware from the article. [ Published Date: Dec 6, 2017 ] See first post in the article below. References to a sentence I do not see in the article.

However, you are not alone.
