apple Remote Desktop multiple users

I would like to be able to do the following:

Mac mini (A) - two users. User X and User Y

Each obviously has same IP

Would like to be able to setup BOTH in ARD.

IE, observe User X and simultaneously, or effortlessly, observe User Y

Mac mini, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Users don't have IP addresses.

ARD offers which user to monitor when connecting in, if more than one user is logged into the system.

I'm not aware of a way to reliably automate the selection of the target user when the list of users logged in and active on the target system is indeterminate.

If these are kids, then parental controls may be a better approach.

ARD does allow specification of the user and password on the connection, but (if I'm interpreting the question correctly) this seems to be around the target selection; whether the incoming connection arrives into a particular virtual display or into the physical display.

My experience with Screen Sharing is that you get the physical display if you connect to the user that has the physical display. And a virtual display if that user is either not up and running at all, or via Fast User Switching, they are not currently in control of the physical display.

But my multi-user Screen Sharing experience is more along the lines of experiments every once in a while when my curiosity needed to be satisfied. I never did a deep study, so I could have some "Off-by-One" errors 🙂

Users don't have associated IP addresses. Network controllers can have zero or more IP addresses. It's quite possible for one controller to have two or five or more IP addresses. ARD isn't particular to which user is currently running on the target system, so long as the user connecting in is an admin. As a guess about the specific requirements, parental controls might be a better fit than ARD.
