Magic Mouse Stopped Clicking!
Hello,
My Magic Mouse was working fine, one day I put my Macbook Pro to sleep for a couple of days, and when I came back to it the mouse wasn't responding to clicks!
It also doesn't automatically connect anymore. When I manually pair it, it moves the pointer arrow, scrolls, but doesn’t click!
Not only that, as long as it's on and paired, the trackpad stops clicking too! I can move the pointer and scroll, but can't click. Sometimes the moment I connect the mouse it behaves as if clicking, so every menu bar item I drag-over highlights, but can't click/unclick.
The only way to take back control of the trackpad is to turn off Magic Mouse.
I've tried the following multiple times with no specific order:
- Turned bluetooth off/on
- Turned Magic Mouse off/on
- Changed Mouse batteries
- Unpaired/re-paired the mouse
- Cleaned up the lens and battery compartment
- Removed all paired devices (from Bluetooth debug menu [alt-shift-click bluetooth icon in menubar])
- Reset Bluetooth module (from Bluetooth debug menu)
- Factory reset all connected Apple devices (from Bluetooth debug menu)
- Moved to another location to assure there is no other electronic interference
- Tried logging in from Guest user
- Deleted all Bluetooth preferences
- Used Disk first Aid in Utilities
- Used Mainmenu Pro to clear cache, delete corrupted preferences, and other things
- Restarted my Macbook Pro
- Reset PRAM
- Reset SMC
- Updated macOS security software update
- Tried an external Bluetooth dongle
I still need to try it on another Mac as I don't know if the problem is from the mouse or Bluetooth, or something else.
I’m out of tricks, totally helpless and getting frustrated from trying and halting my work, and would really appreciate if someone can help please! 😊
