Canon printer software not working with iMac
I have a Canon MF8280CW (firmware uptodate) and a 27" iMac running macOS Sierra - 10.12.6. The printer works fine if I send a document from an iPad, but NOT from an iMac. The printer is definitely visible on the network (cross-checked IP addresses etc), but I think there must be an incompatibility in the printer driver software.
I have tried resetting the printer system, and I have removed all drivers from the Printer Library, prior to trying to re-add the printer. The add printer process is not quite right - the printer does not appear in the "default window" so I have to use the IP address which then moves the process forward. BUT when I press "ADD" it hangs, until I press "skip" and then it proceeds to add the printer. BUT IT DOESNT WORK FROM THE IMAC !
The same problem has arisen on an HP Printer in my son's room, though I have not tried as many things on the pairing of his Airbook and that printer. I am also having problems with my Time Capsule which is not recognised by the Airport Utility. Having a sense of humour failure !
