Cellular Data Usage - System Services/ Media Services

Suddenly my roaming data package is 2/3 used up on the first day. I already found the culprit, but my question is what to do about the money I just burned through, which is Apple’s fault for changing a default setting that allows iTunes to download media even when the music app is set to not use cellular data. In fact, the Settings>Cellular>Cellular Data lists no use by Music, iTunes Store or any other App. But 2.3GB our of my allowed 3GB was used up by System Services>ITunes Media Services. That’s what downloads updates automatically over cellular, which I’ve never had turned on, not ever in my 10 years owning an iPhone (or at least since the App Store allowed auto updates). But, surprise, it got switched on by the last update. That awesomeness just cost me 50 bucks. So, who’s going to compensate me? I guess nobody.

iPhone 6s, iOS 11.2.5

You marked it solved, probably by accident. The Original Poster is the only one who can. Are you still on your trip using roaming? If yes, why not wait until you get back? Take screen shots of any information the is pertinent on your phone, and when you return request printouts from your cell provider so you will have everything at hand when you connect.

Do you have any idea what was downloaded? If it was apps then they had to be below 100MB and you would have had to have downloaded lots of them to eat up 2.5GB that quickly. It couldn't be an update because Apple doesn't allow them to be downloaded via cellular.
