No Calculator with an iPad?!

Okay, so this is such a First World problem, but I just bought an iPad 9.7 inch (5th gen, 2017) and I find that there is no native calculator provided with the device like there is with my iPhone 7. Color me reactionary, but is Apple kidding? Apparently I have to download some third-party app, or open my iPhone every time, or carry around a calculator to do basic arithmetic. I am feeling incredulous enough about this omission to take the time to write this community post. I don’t understand. Why no calculator?

(I will note that the first impression of my new iPad is otherwise very positive. I wondered about getting the iPad Pro 10.5 inch, but chose the “common” “non-Pro” 9.7 inch instead. I’m not a graphics worker so I don’t require a fancy pencil or a power screen. The screen on this device is absolutely beautiful and the device itself feels very substantial, and for $400 less than the Pro 256 GB. Sure, I have only 32 GB, but most of my stuff is in the cloud anyway, so not an issue. Extremely please thus far, but for the calculator irritant.)

iPad Wi-Fi, iOS 11.2.5, 32 GB
