Hi,

has anyone found information or Apple articles that tells if AirPlay 2 multiroom streaming will be supported on the AirPort Express ?

Thanks

This is a user to user forum.. Apple do not release info to the public.. the unwashed masses.. until they are good and ready.

So yes.. we are looking hard at various specifications and adding up 2+2 .. maybe we got 6 or 3 as the answer.. and you can wait in hope for Apple to finally say yes the day they release a firmware. They seem to be reluctant to say no. Our general thinking is the hardware spec of the Express is simply too old. The latest one is 6+ year old design. It was old the day it was introduced.. ie other than change of form factor and dual band it made almost no improvement on the previous model. And it does not have the right processor to do the job. Seriously if the spec can be backdated for an express it could also be backdated to Apple TV 2 and 3 a lot easier since they use the same ARM processor as the iphone. The Express is a lot dumber.. it is much more like a speaker itself .. since it has a standard wireless chip in it.. not a programmable processor.
