Macs for small business and MacOS Server
Hi everyone,
I have a small business operating in China (only about 5-10 people) and they are all currently using windows PC's but also all using iPhones as their work phone. I have eventual plans down the line to switch all their machines to Macs of some kind as I'd like everything to run smoother and be much more tightly connected and integrated. I'm personally very invested in the Apple ecosystem and from my experience, I believe it would be a much more productive solution for the business to also be invested in the same ecosystem.
My desires then are as such:
a) Have employee Mac's and iPhones that are supervised and tightly controlled by me to prevent unauthorised downloads or modifications, to be able to remotely lock a device or wipe it if necessary (when I say remote I mean controlling a device in China whilst I'm in the UK)
b) To have company files and documents stored in a server in the UK accessible by my staff in China, with access permissions and locks on certain files and folders that are for management only.
As such, here are my questions:
1. In terms of utilising a server, is Mac OS server the best one? I checked the Mac App Store and found that it has been rated 1 star. As such I am sceptical of its ability to do what I require of it.
2. Can I have the server based in the UK and accessible by people in China?
3. What do you guys think of Jamf Now?
4. Any other advice you could offer for my situation.
Thanks so much.
