iPhone 6 ios 11.2.5 storage issue

Hi All,

I've been having a lot issues with storage on my iPhone 6 16 gig since I updated it to ios 11.2.5.

No matter how many apps I delete or offload I can't seem to free up any space, with my phone constantly saying that 15.7 of 16 GB have been used. I've also noticed that as soon as I do delete any of my apps that the ios get bigger (currently at 14.5 gigs).

As a result, my photos have also stopped backing up to my iCloud, as it indicates "Not Enough iPhone Storage".

I have backed up my iPhone to my iCloud account and also reinstalled the ios from iTunes as recommended in another thread, but nothing has worked.

Has anyone else experienced this or have found a way to rectify it?

Final update I guess: It's been 4 hours since my last post. I've just left my phone plugged into my Mac, unlocked and on the iCloud screen in "Settings". The "iCloud Photo Library" percentage disappeared, my Photos app is now 984MB (NOT GB), and I have 65.14GB available. I don't even know.

What I'm thinking is my iCloud decided to download all of my photos and videos to my phone (tested this theory and some really old videos had played immediately instead of the usual buffering), so by turning off iCloud Photo Library and turning it back on, it kind of just reset everything. What's more, all of my photos past October 1st are back on my phone. So from what I can tell, no danger in turning off the iCloud Photo Library, but this is completely anecdotal. Hopefully this holds up.

Have you logged into icloud.com from a web browser to make sure that the photo's and videos are deleted, you would do this through a web browser and computer.

If you use another device with the same apple id you may be sharing photos to your iphone: Settings>Photos>Upload to My Photo Stream and turn off

If you see that your ios is more then 5.5gb in Settings>General>iphone storage i would contact Apple Support

You can also try resetting you iphone without itunes by: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings but do this step after backing your iphone up through by: Settings>yourname>icloud>icloud back up>back up now

conor223,

Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Scroll down and it will then show the apps that are using your storage listed in order of usage.

Then focus on the apps with the most storage and delete data as appropriate. Large videos and podcasts that take up a lot of storage, can often times be deleted because you can usually download them again if you want view them.

Note: deleted photos are not necessarily deleted from the phone. You may have to go to Photos > Albums > Recently Deleted and delete them from there to truly free up storage.

Then restart your phone.

Let us know how it turns out.

I'll toss my hat into this issue as well. I have a 128GB iPhone 7, and generally run around 65-75GB used. Suddenly my phone was saying it was full, so I deleted 10GB worth of video from my DJI app, and about 500 photos, freeing about 12GB (I didn't check in the App Store but confirmed that my DJI app is now 1.5 instead of 10.2GB). Within a day I got the storage full notification (180MB available). I started taking screen shots of my storage from this point on, and despite my photos number dropping (6300 to 6088 to 5850) my storage has still filled within 24 hrs. It gets to the point that I can't even open my email app. I even deleted and reinstalled WhatsApp, as I heard it can be a pig sometimes. The most recent reading was that my Photos app is taking up 74GB of space!

So as I type this, I've just deleted 10GB worth of video (which is odd because I have iCloud storage, so why these have suddenly begun storing locally I'm not sure) and am immediately updating to 11.2.6. I'm also going to begin exploring my iCloud photo cache on iCloud.com.

If anyone has a solution that they've come across, that would be greatly appreciated!

Hey boofitz, yes I've emptied the "recently deleted" folder.

Update: I've successfully updated to 11.2.6, done a physical sync to my Macbook iTunes (hadn't since July because it was a new laptop and haven't 'really' migrated everything over from previous MacBook still), disabled "iCloud Photo Library" (which deleted every photo from before October 1st, 2017 off my phone, although they're in iCloud *phew*, we'll see if I can get them back on later), and then re-enabled "iCloud Photo Library" after restarting my iPhone. Phone storage is up to 29GB (99GB used) and Photos library has reduced to 41.5GB. Phone is plugged into laptop for good feelings and rainbows and "iCloud Photo Library" sync has been at 0% for an hour lol.

Wish me luck
