.tiff file becomes bright blue in Preview

Mac Pro 2013, 10.12.6 AMD Fire Pro D300 3G Video card 64G RAM, Plenty of available storage.

I have a problem where a large .tiff file from Photoshop CC2017, no layers

about 90Mb on disk, in photoshop about 700MB, 528inx82in

The weirdest thing has started happening to a couple users.

If you use QuickLook the .tiff looks fine. But as soon as you open the file in Preview the image "covers" in huge bright blue chunks and becomes:

User uploaded file

I think Preview is chocking on the rendering of the image, so maybe the Video card?

The Blue covers in 4 large chunks, so from left to right, 25,50,75,covered

It's not happening to every user, and i've never seen this before, was wondering if anyone had a suggestion, or maybe had some insight into this?

It seems I have run into this once before, I am racking my brain to remember if there is a fix.

Certainly worth reporting:

TIFF I understand are archival, but even on the web they always seem to cause problems and I avoid the format altogether. The obvious work around is change the format to .png etc. if possible.

I should also add:

.tiff works fine if I drop it into a Safari window.

If I shrink the .tiff so it's only 10inches wide at 72dpi, instead of 580inches at 72dpi it works fine..

I'm leaning to a "Preview needs more memory" but I don't think that can be adjusted....

If I try the original on a 2015 MacBook Pro, the image turns grey, instead of the blue I see. So it's definitely something to do with either Preview or the graphics cards.....

User is able to open image fine on a home 2010 Mac silver tower running OS 10.10... So there's that too....

thanks!

Unfortunately, the first link is kinda the opposite of what I am getting.

Photoshop, everything is great.. Quicklook, everything is great... Preview, the image opens low-res and then chokes on displaying high-res. Happens to my Mac Pro, (turns Blue) and others laptops, 2015 MacBook Pro's (turns grey). I'm leaning towards a video error, but it's all stock apples nd the Mac Pro's have the D300 Dual 2G cards in them...

The second link, seems to be just for affinity Photo, and I think the .tiff's are being saved as 8-bit not 16-but, so no luck there..

I thank you, but no solution yet....
