I could be wrong, but I don't believe that the iTunes Store can accept Visa gift cards, only credit cards and bank debit cards. You may need to use that gift card to purchase an iTunes prepaid card and then use that with the Store.

well im reading the statements word for word.
i don't care about what apple thinks, only what they have written.

if they say debit cards, they are also implying that they accept gift cards regardless of how much info. they have because of what visa's website says. it SEEMS to me that someone is bending the other persons words, what is implyed needs to be stated, i'm not physic.

mabye visa should say:"...all places accepting our debit cards except for itunes"

or mabye itunes should say: "debit cards, but not including gift cards"

the way both companies explain things, it makes it sound like they are contradicting each other. itunes doesn't spell out this whole "gift cards don't have enough personal info." situation.

can't you understand how this would confuse someone?

No, Apple has no way to verify that you actially live wehere you claim to. For all that apple knows, you just made up that adress. Actually verifying it the long way is far to laborius and has legal complications. Having a credit or debit card that has a verifiable address is the only way for Apople to verify where you live and where you can buy music from.

so iTunes needs a matching billing address to the address on your credit/debit card (the gift card doesn't have one)...and since the gift card doesn't have an address, they can't verifty that that card is yours?

if that is true, then they need explain this to people, i've wasted enough time as it is trying to figure this out.

WHAT YOU ARE SAYING ABOUT ITUNES NOT ACCEPTING MY GIFT CARD IS CORRECT.
however, i think itunes should explain something about this so people get the picture, if someone reads their gift card and then they read itunes website, they'll think exactly what i did unless thye have knowledge like you.

As I have gone to great measures to explain, Visa Gift Cards are NOT Debit cards, they serve similar functions but they lack certain information that makes them a gift card.

SORRY FOR THE TROUBLE, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
