I see an old question addressing this, but from 2017. I don't see an answer pertinent to the version of Mac OS that I am using. Any help?

Mac mini, macOS Sierra (10.12.3), 8G Ram, 1.1T Fusion Drive

OS X 10.15.7 - Safari corrupt - Software Update will not update Mac Mini Late 2014. Upgraded from OS X 10.13 to OS 10.15.7. Older parents so I did not want them to deal with all the new stuff in OS 11. So after the update I checked SU and Safari 15 needed to install. Started that and I noticed that it was taking a very long time to install. The Mac then crashed and rebooted. Safari in the Applications folder as you can see in the screen shot is completely broken. Does not launch. Software Update will list two other updates but not Safari, or other times Software Update just spins forever "Checking for updates...". How to remove the corrupted Safari and get Software Update to re-download it? Thanks! PS: On the hardware selection for this post, Apple please fix and add older Mac Minis. The only choice was a Mac Mini 2018. [Image Edited by Moderator to Remove Serial Number]

mac OS Safari 12.0.1 update installer problem Ever since I installed the mac OS Safari 12.0.1 update, my iMac fails to boot up. When I restart holding down the option key, it shows a "mac OS installer" as the startup disk, and I have to select my internal HD for it to boot normally. This has happened 3 times. The first 2 times I ended up restoring my entire HD, once from a backup to OS 10.13.6 that uses Safari 11, and the second time using recovery to reinstall 10.13.6.However, my password manager 1Password 7 will not work with Safari 11, and I continually receive the message that I need to update to Safari 12 in order for 1Password 7 to work. How do I remove the mac OS installer? It does not show up in a spotlight search.

Try Services menu.

Quit all applications. Empty the trash.

Double click the .plist file path written below in Bold to select.

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist

Then right click on it to get the contextual menu.

Move the mouse pointer to “Services” and then click “Show in Finder”.

Finder window will open showing com.apple.Safari.plist highlighted.
