Safari Printing Issue "CanonIJPDE"

All of a sudden only Safari stops letting me have proper access to all the printer settings, for all my Canon printers (don't have any others).

Steps I have checked:

• I didn't install anything today, except for an Acorn 6 and Vox Update through the Mac App Store, before this happened.

• Ran EtreCheck, no issues with Safari or Print.

• Ran MacScan, no malware.

• Ran a full Onyx User and System cleaning, except for CUPS history.

• Ran repair disk permission from Onyx.

• Tried compressing and deleting whole Safari folder in order to have a brand new one, didn't have any effect on this issue.

• Reinstalled Canon printer drivers twice.

• Searched for this issue across the entire Internet, doesn't exist.

• All other browsers are just fine in this regard.

• All other apps print fine, including Mail.

I might have tried something else that I don't remember but this list is close to all of them.

It started with some printers and then after restarting Safari all printers were in the same boat.

I give up. Does anyone have an idea of what this problem could be?

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later. Please post if this worked or not.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer or by using the developer’s uninstall instructions. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once. Please post if this worked or not.

I don't see any software that should be causing problems. I would uninstall Bartender using the Developer's uninstall instructions.

Since it is now affecting all printers, resetting the printing system would be the next thing I would try.

I tried it but Apple won't allow it with the combo update installer. Oh well. I guess the only option left is to reinstall or upgrade the OS.

Eric, unfortunately no change in the newly created user account. Also no change in Safari printing options in Safe Mode either. I'm starting to wonder if I am going to have to reset the whole printing system (a lot of work to redo everything) or reinstall.

WOW, I just finished reseting the printing system (after backing up the cups and printer info folder and files first). Glad I backed those up so I can restore them because resetting the whole printing system didn't help the issue at all! I installed one of the printers and tried to print in Safari and no change! I can't believe it. I wonder if running the 10.11.6 combo update would help before the last ditch effort of reinstall.
