Hi, I've made the jump from iphone 6 to iphone 8 plus. The connection between my lighting port charging cable and also my lightning port headphones seems very tight. Is this abnormal or do other people notice this too? Is it normal? The iphone 6 cable seemed to connect with very little effort, the iphone 8 I have to push much harder to connect.

If you are experiencing difficulty in the insertion and removal of the lightning cable for your new phone, that is not normal. While the connection should be firm, it should not be difficult to perform. Given that the phone is less than 48 hours old, I suggest you return it to be checked if you purchased at an Apple Store, or I would return it for a refund at the store you purchased at. From there, I would purchase a new device.

Have you tried to gently (with a toothpick and a lot of patience) clean the charging port?
Are you using a certified lightning cable?
Having to choose between tight connection and too smooth (or large) I would prefer a tight one.

I can only report my experience, knewman05.
My iphone 7 lightning connection was and still is tight (and I bought this device on 2016, at the end of the year). I've never had any problem with it.
But if you think that your iPhone lightning port is too tight, and since your iP8 is brand new (it should be of course without lint, debris, etc), you can have it inspected at your most convenient Apple Store. Just to feel more comfortable.

Hi, I failed to mention that I got this phone less than 48 hours ago so I don't think it would be dirty? Yes it is a certified cable. I just wanted to know if this was normal, I don't want long term problems because it's too tight.
