Adobe Lightroom Classic error message

I'm using a MacBook Pro mid 2015 running 10.13.3 High Sierra. MY Lightroom Classic Desktop app won't open and error messages are received upon any type of install, update or reinstall. I've done the usual restarts, uninstall and reinstall, and reverted to an older version. The 2015 version will open, but errors are received if I try to update. The error messages state compatibility problems but my most recent attempt gave an error of "Unable to move the file. Rename the file and then try again." Honestly, I don't know what this means.
