How can I find out if my Certified, refurbished i-Mac is still under Apple's 1-year warranty? I have the serial number, but not the original purchase date.

Just bought a used "Apple Certified/Refurbished" 27" iMac desktop from Amazon (third party vendor is 6ave - 6th Avenue Electronics). Make is MK 482LL/A, Model is A1419. I typed in the serial number, but don't have the original purchase date, so Apple's online system will not verify warranty status. Does anybody know if there is any other way to find out warranty status without having this date?

iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12.6), quad-core 6th-gen Skylake 3.3GHz

Well, this got more interesting. I had my phone appt. with APPLE TODAY. Got referred to their Agreements Dept. Yvonne looked up my Serial # and told me that there is no purchase history, but system shows that the one-year warranty began Dec. 26, 2017 and expires 12/25/2018 AND IS ELIGIBLE for APPLECARE!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. I asked if 12/26/17 was original purchase date and again she said there is no purchase date, but the serial # brought up the above info. and that's what they go by. I immediately bought the 3 yr. AppleCare+ plan, which is good until 12/25/20 for $169. I even questioned the seller not being on their authorized list and she again responded that whatever comes up when they enter the serial # is what they go by. Maybe there is some type of arrangement that Amazon has given that they are authorized. Anyway, my fears are all gone. I've received the documentation via e-mail and I am typing this reply on my "Certified" not-so-used iMac and I am at peace with the world.🙂

I am looking for a used, but recent, Mac Book Pro to give my daughter for high school graduation. She'll be starting college in the Fall and her old one is limping along. She's worked hard and is graduating early with a 3.7 GPA, so she sure deserves and needs an upgrade. No more Amazon or eBay. I will be buying it from the Apple Store.

Hey, babowa, I've learned a lot from you. Thank you.
