Video Size on Phones Tiny

Hi,

I am a newbie so you'll most likely tell me I am making a basic beginners mistake. I created a project with no specific rules. I imported media and inserted subtitles. The video was captured on a phone so it's portrait. I cropped and transformed every element to fit within the original video area but when I share the video, even to apple devices, the video appears a fraction of the size of the phones screen. Pinching and resizing sorts the problem but I don't want the problem in the first place. Ideally I'd export the video and it would resize automatically. What kind of basic numbskull error am I making?

Where it says 1080p HD, change that to Custom. If the camera is shooting 1080, set the size to 1080x1920, the opposite of the standard 16:9 video format.

I imported into Mac Video Editor and it allowed me a crop option that cropped to the actual video size, The export algorithms are not the best so although he video size is ok the quality is crap. Can anybody help? I am pretty sure it's something straight forwards. Then again because I don't know what it is it could be complicated as ****.

Thanks t everybody in advance for their advice.

Ok, that kind of points to what I thought but specifically what settings should I make or setup? I'm asking this so I can push ahead with initial work while I learn the software. I mentioned in my question that I expected the video to Autoresize once it was exported but it didn't. With iPhones and other screens having a similar portrait aspect, what is the best frame size to set?

I appreciate your help Tom.

Thanks
