iOS 11.3 - Delete Message Confirmation

The newest iOS 11.3 update enables a feature that asks if you're sure you want to delete a text message/iMessage once you choose the delete option. It's making me crazy! I tried searching through the settings to remove this deletion confirmation, but can't find anything on the topic. Is there any way to remove this feature?

Every so often Apple comes up with a "Feature" that so small and so annoying that begs the question as to whether they ever consult with a user. YES! Delete confirmation is an unnecessary addition to IOS and we can only hope that some security patch will remove it

No, Apple doesn't consult with users. Instead, they see what users do with their phones and often introduce features based on what they perceive as a real need. This is one such feature. Daily, multiple users come here to these user only forums begging for help to recover an accidentally deleted text message. In most cases, the only way to get the message back is to restore from backup, which often people simply don't have.

So, this very small change was introduced to help the countless thousands of users to ensure when they use swipe to delete that they truly do want to delete the message.

Are you aware there is another simple method to delete messages that will not ask you to confirm you want to delete? Yes, Apple provided the best of BOTH worlds to users. Simply use the Edit/Tap Messages(s)/Tap Trash icon and voila, message(s) delete without confirmation. That can't be any more cumbersome could it? It's three steps, just like it was before on swipe to delete.

I agree. I posted the same thing about hating the change and got sensored. They deleted my post cause I’m tired of them fooling around with how my phone works. Fix it apple nd stop playing with how our phones work or I’m out and I’ll say it again I’ll go to an Android at least they give you options.

We really don't care if you leave and go Android. Truly. But if you do, be advised that Android ALSO makes you confirm you want to delete a text message as I posted earlier in this thread directions on how Android handles this. What I find so amusing is how a simple change that will help so many avoid losing messages can be such an issue for you? When you become head of Apple Engineering, you can design the interface however you want. Until then, change is going to be a constant, for without it, innovation simply comes to an end.

Nobody here has a vested interest in what choice you make for your mobile device. This is a user to user technical support forum, not a social media site. There are Terms of Use for using this forum: Apple Support Communities Use Agreement. You should familiarize yourself with those terms, so you can understand that censorship was not involved. And as for options - take a look at your Settings. There are literally hundreds of options that you have.

Really Apple. Your attitude and customer service is less than desired. Give your customers what you want not give your customers what they want. It’s not innovative and dictatorship. Whom ever is typing this should be fired.

You seem to be under the illusion that Apple is here. They are not here. This is a user to user technical support forum. So, really, tntpresto, you should understand where you are posting before you post. No one here can get fired since we are all volunteers, and we are users just like you.

If you agree with me, it means you think the change is ok, as I do.

They deleted your post because you violated the Terms of Use in some way. You will have received an email explaining why.

I completely agree with the others. This is the most ridiculous update ever. Please get rid of it or install a setting to shut it off. It is making me crazy!

Not all the "others" here think this is a bad update. I think it's a good idea.

Expressing your opinion here will not forward your cause. Instead, tell Apple using the feedback page:

Which "others" do you agree with? From actually reading posts there are a lot of users who think this is a great idea that was too long in coming. Especially those of us who must tell dozens of users a month that no, once they have deleted a message it is gone forever unless it was included in a backup.

I do as well Lawrence. One would think based on the feedback from some of us, it might make a little bit of sense why Apple "FINALLY" added this feature. But since they don't like it, it's simply awful and it must be changed because they command so. It doesn't matter if it may benefit others. And really how difficult is it to acknowledge you actually want to delete a message? In the scheme of things, does a tiny extra step really ruin their lives? I've posted this before, but for those who simply can't handle change, this is the phone they should own:
