4G LTE in Bangladesh

4G was launched on 19 February, 2018 in Bangladesh. But there's no support for LTE by Apple in Bangladesh. Currently there are more than 1.5 million iPhone users in Bangladesh. So I would like to request for a LTE support software update for Bangladesh as soon as possible. The carriers providing 4G/LTE are Grameenphone, Airtel, Robi and Banglalink.

Apple doesn't control this; the carriers do. They need to create a carrier update to be installed on the phone. To check for a carrier update go to Settings/General/About on the phone and tap on the carrier name. If the carrier has issued a carrier data update you will be prompted to install it. If they haven't you need to contact them to find out when they plan to.

You also need to make sure that the phones you have support the LTE bands available in Bangladesh. You can check the bands here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/.

Also, just because the feature has been announced it does not mean that all towers have been upgraded to LTE yet, so coverage may be spotty or non-existent in some (or many) areas.

FaceTime Video and Personal Hotspot don't show up, but I'll take your word for it. Probably will take time for them to add it in. Here in Canada we go like, bat---- crazy if we have any sort of issues. I can sympathize with that. Every phone out there should get either LTE or 4G. It's a no brainer. I agree with you on that. I read in Europe it's a "basic human right" to access LTE. Sounds funny, but in this context it's not. If you're adopting that, then you will find no quarrel with me. If your mobile operator sells all forms of iPhones that can access LTE, then my question is why is it not listed on Apple's Support Page that Mr. Finch linked to?

@CrimsonPurple: I have no quarrel with you. We all have our opinions.

In your Settings, both of you do have a Carrier File right? From your Carrier?

For example: In Settings/General/About, it does say "Driver8666 31.1" right? I used my name as a provider. Did both of you check for a Carrier Update using the same method? I'm sure you did and it's a nutty question, but.........

And you can still access 3G right? I'm guessing yes.

As for selling the iPhone: I probably already mentioned this one, but.......

When my provider was approved by Apple, a date was set for the iPhone to go live, but where I live, only Band 66 (AWS 1/3) iPhones (the 8 Series and CrimsonPurple's X) are available. Band 7 LTE (IMT-E) is still being rolled out in Toronto when I was using a 6S Plus (which I still have. I use an 8 Plus now). So my phone would flip between LTE and 3G depending on the "hood" I was rolling through. 4 days before the iPhone went live, all iPhones on the network got a Carrier Update. But my provider plans to offer all iPhones that can access LTE. So I can see the reasoning behind that.

You really need to understand that LTE is not working on iphone:

- with 4G ready SIM

- within coverage area

- with LTE bands matching

Pop out the sim, place in ANY android with LTE, and it works.

And the operators are saying it is not working because there is a block from Apple's side on using LTE in Bangladesh.

Given the verifiable information we have, it is extremely clear where the issue is.

GP's 4G coverage is limited at this moment even though they are the largest operator. But other carrier has almost 100% coverage (by population; not by ground-area). Other carriers are not far behind.

I tested things by literally standing in front of GP's head office as have some other people. All works except iphone.

The thing is Apple has things like WiFi Calling ,voLTE & multiple LTE bands for iPhones. Most cheap Android phones do not have this. That is why it takes some time to certify a network. That is why iPhones are global phones.

If GP,Robi & Banglalink were actually intelligent they should have informed Apple 1 month before deployment for them to work everything out.
