4G LTE in Bangladesh

4G was launched on 19 February, 2018 in Bangladesh. But there's no support for LTE by Apple in Bangladesh. Currently there are more than 1.5 million iPhone users in Bangladesh. So I would like to request for a LTE support software update for Bangladesh as soon as possible. The carriers providing 4G/LTE are Grameenphone, Airtel, Robi and Banglalink.

Apple doesn't control this; the carriers do. They need to create a carrier update to be installed on the phone. To check for a carrier update go to Settings/General/About on the phone and tap on the carrier name. If the carrier has issued a carrier data update you will be prompted to install it. If they haven't you need to contact them to find out when they plan to.

You also need to make sure that the phones you have support the LTE bands available in Bangladesh. You can check the bands here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/.

Also, just because the feature has been announced it does not mean that all towers have been upgraded to LTE yet, so coverage may be spotty or non-existent in some (or many) areas.

> 880 blocked for LTE? Hard to believe if Androids are accessing LTE. An unlocked iPhone should work, but where you buy the phone, for LTE purposes will matter. Different bands.

880 blocked for LTE on iphone. Read with context please?

Apple blocked that on iPhone. Androids have no problems. Bands are not the issue here.

iPhone X supports the bands LTE is live on here. It is just BLOCKED from using LTE here.

You are the one bringing up unnecessary stuff like where we buy our phone matters. It does not in this case. And phones bought from here doesn't work either.

> As I mentioned before I got my 8 Plus, I could access LTE Band 7 (IMT-E) on Freedom Mobile on a 6S Plus, before my provider got approved by Apple. So what the IT Specialist said I can debunk quite easily.

No, you can't. If you can't see how these two situations are different, you have no business posting here.

Stop being a blind Apple White Knight. Thanks.

The terms was only for that I am confident on other android decices. I am not qurreling for that lol. Btw Apple just approved "Facetime Video and Personal Hotspot". I think you don't have idea about Bangladesh and Bangladeshi people's daily life. Here we don't like any kind of critical issue. Where every phone supports 4G as well only but iPhone. Our mobile operator selling iPhone X, 8,7, 7 plus, 6, 6s,5s etc. with official waarenty. So, Apple could approve LTE when they sold those phone. You dont know about that in the capital city and most of the mega cities people using iPhone. about 1.5 milion of 18 crorr people using this phone. We can demand all of facilities like others countries. It's really disturbing that it is needed to be certify LTE manually from apple. I dont no that which security and strategy the follow actually. But, nothing to say that we already have waited more than a week for LTE and waiting for the certification process so that we can use LTE.

Speed of LTE Bangladesh:

Grameenphone: 35Mbps

Banglalink : 23 Mbps

Robi : 24 Mbps

Airel 25 Mbps

Ollo : 80 Mbps

Banglalion 4G : 6- 20 Mbps ( Package variation)

Thank you.

Bangladeshi network provider providing 2100 Mhz , 1800 Mhz and 900 Mhz frequency for 4G LTE. I think you have understant. But where all other phone supporting 4G LTE why iPhone can't ?

They could pre certified for Bangladesh.

Is it a security issue of Apple or anyhting else ?

Do you think our oparators and Govt. responsible for this issue ?? I think Apple dont like Bangladesh is still not perfect for using iPhone or apple product bla bla bla. :) just jocking.

Mention: I bought my unlock phone from Bangladesh apple store.

I agree with no doubt. If it's an LTE setting update issue and installing it on my phone then it proves that Apple provides restricted facilities using iPhone. As we see the country lock.

If they blame Bangladeshi operator for the LTE band I think it will be a lame excuse. Because operator knows about the value of users and they committed to providing best services for all user. It's our Govt. rule and regulation for the mobile phone operator.

Here our Govt. always ensure that the people are getting their facilities. This is a republic country. I don't know you are aware of human right act. According to our constitution all people of this country will get the fair facilities in every sphare. So, why you addresing as madmen ?? Are you from a crazy or mad store ?? Had to say this. Don't talk as a fool where you dont know well about somthing, okay??

Dear, I am living the 4G coverage area now. Also using Grameenphone , Banglalink and Airtel SIM and swiched to LTE option on my phone. But unfortunately its showing 3G only. I am sending some screenshot of my iPhone 6s network side and a message that shows while I am switching 3G to 4G. I hope you will be clear about this issue.

I was talking to the other guy, who was getting hysterical in my opinion. It is better to get an optimized connection, rather than an unoptimized one.

Yeah, 63% of compatible LTE smartphones in Bangladesh are iPhones.

It is a 3rd world country where smartphone adoption is less than 30% of 160 million people. Out of those 30% ,only 10%(5 mill) has 4G capability. Out of that (3mill) are iPhones.

I do hope that iPhone 5 does get 4G support too.

Keep in mind, it might be sooner. Or later. When Freedom announced LTE, they said the Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto where I live would be complete in the Spring of 2018 after the spectrum purchase. I got LTE on my 6S Plus in December of 2017 (but only in the "hood" where I live, elsewhere it was either 3G or LTE depending on the neighbourhood).

A few things to keep in mind gentlemen:

Even though I can get far faster speeds here, the technology will mature.

Until VoLTE is implemented, calls will still go through the 3G network (the network will drop to 3G. Camping back to LTE may take a moment). So if you are using the phone and checking out news from CNN, you will be limited to 3G speeds. This does not happen with VoLTE.

If you use WhatsApp, Skype or FaceTime Audio, you'll still stay on LTE for a call, but only if you use one of those to place a call.

The network will also drop to 3G if the LTE signal where you are is weak.

🙂 I'm still here if you have questions.

Drink the coffee.

Hello @Driver8666!
I've read all threads. I have two questions to you.

1. We have an iPhone user forum (Facebook Group). There saw, few are getting 4G ((Grameen phone and Airtel. I saw two). How is it possible? I purchased my 6s from US (New York). I used 4g on my phone when i visited India. It's mean, my phone is 100% ready to use.

2. Why Apple is not allowing all services like others country. But they are selling authorizing products in our country.

You know, Apple users are something Elite class from my point of view. But we can't use 4g! Funny na?

Thank you and waiting and waiting for apple. Requesting for all services you and apple owner getting as a user.
