What is MacFuse and what is Tuxera?

Do I need either of them? If not, how can delete them?

I am running OS High Sierra on an aged Mac. It seems to have alot of stuff running in the background and so, it's very slow. Looking for things I don't need on it, and things that can be turned off to improve performance.

iPhone 4, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

MacFuse and Tuxera are file system drivers. MacFuse will let you use different types if file systems on your Mac in containers, while Tuxera is generally used to allow the Mac to write to Windows Formatted (NTFS) drives.

Tuxera

Only you can know if you are using them or not, or why you would have installed them in the first place.
