My iMac recognises my iPhone as new

Hello everyone,

Whenever I plug my iPhone 6 into my iMac and go to iTunes to import some songs to it and sync, it says, 'Welcome to your New iPhone'. I have had my iPhone for the best part of 5 months and it has never done this before. However, I spoke yesterday to an Apple customer services person on how to make my iMac faster, and he told me to delete some cache files. I was thinking that could be the problem?

Anyway, on Photos (which opens instantly) it says 'ready to import'. So it's as if just iTunes' details have been removed. I was considering selecting 'Set up as New iPhone', but I was worried it would remove all of my applications, photos and the like. Please help as I cannot currently use my iPhone with iTunes, which is needed for me right now!

Thanks to everyone who attempted to help me!

Sounds like you have a problem right there... I’ve never heard of an iphone being stuck like that. There is a way to reset your iPhone.... hold down the power button on it until it turns off, and then wait a bit, press power button, you should see the apple logo, then the spinning cog thing, then it should reboot. Maybe try that. Otherwise, plug it directly into your iMac, via USB, it should be recognized by itunes( check under Devices) . There you can do a backup, sync, wipe( as needed) check on apps, storage capacity, etc. About the only other things that come to mind is that you may have to authorize your iPhone with iTunes and the App Store, and sign into iCloud with your Apple ID. 2-factor authentication,eh?

Sorry that’s all I’ve got for now-not much though
