Trying to download the Amazon Prime app to my Apple TV gen4

When I go to "buy" the free app for Amazon Prime in the App Store on Apple TV, I get a prompt which tells me PayPal needs to send a verification code to my phone. I click the "send code" button, but then nothing happens. The indicated phone number is the correct number, but I never receive a code. Am I missing something here?
