You would have to purchase the retail iWork '09 DVD from an Amazon or Ebay reseller, and after installing it, then update it from Apple's iWork Update 9.3. Just installing the DVD falls short of compatibility with recent Apple operating systems.
Just a future note: the iWork '09 applications are 32-bit applications, and starting with macOS 10.14 and its shift to 64-bit application requirements, the iWork '09 applications will not have much future.
There is no automated means to create alternating margins, and page numbers in Pages v5 or v6. You can hope all you want, but currently not available.
PROBLEM....to use PAGES '09 V4.3, I am instructed to install Work 09 suite and open the contained PAGES app. That process is denied.
Is there another way to get the v4.3 or apply alternate left/right page numbers in the modern Pages version?
It looks like you can do it manually page by page.
Click in the first page, Insert > Page no.
Click in 2nd page, Insert > Page No and format to right justified
Repeat!
Update - doesn't work, even with Section breaks.
In addition to 'hoping for a solution,' you should add your voice to those requesting this feature be returned to Pages.
Pages menu> Provide Pages Feedback.
Apple does read the feedback, but does not necessarily act on it. A few more voices makig the same requests won't hurt, and might help.
Regards,
Barry
You use Pages '09 v4.3, because Pages v5 and v6 do not support alternating pages.
Correct. It doesn't work that way. Thanks for response, but I'm still hoping for a solution.
