"Update completed" often re-appears [iPhone 7 iOS 11]

The screen Update completed re-appears at various times, e.g. often (not always) after rebooting and sometimes (not always) in the morning when I unlock the phone. The OS is up to date, so it has nothing to do with actual updates. The problem has persisted through all updates since iOS 11 was released (September 2017).

After I tap Continue, I get to the Welcome to iPhone screen, and after I tap Get Started, the phone goes to the home screen. I don't have to go through the typical setup steps (setting up WiFi, language, etc.). Apart from this problem, the phone works fine.

It is an iPhone 7, currently on iOS 11.2.5.

Hello BvdG,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your iPhone. I am going to recommend reinstalling the iOS using iTunes. Please make a backup of your data prior to doing this step: You can make a backup in iCloud or iTunes using this article: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Once your data is backed up, you can reinstall the iOS using this help article: If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Please pay close attention when you reach step 4 which says:

When you see the option to Restore or Update, choose Update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Wait while iTunes downloads the software for your device. If the download takes more than 15 minutes and your device exits recovery mode, let the download finish, then repeat these steps.

Once your iOS is reinstalled, test if the issue is still occurring. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

Hello Alex,

Thank you for responding to my question. Just for clarification: was this a standard answer (like in the 1990s on Windows forums, "first, re-install Windows") or was it based on an idea about what might be wrong? In the latter case, what do you think is the problem?

Thanks again and have a good weekend.
