Can you get malware on your iPhone just from visiting a website?

Hi,

I was using the Safari app on my iPhone SE to do a web search, and I accidentally clicked on a link in the search results and opened a web page that I think may have contained malicious content. I immediately got out of the site, cleared my Safari history, and closed out Safari.

Because I was paranoid about it, I did some research, and there were different opinions as to whether or not Apple products can get malware or a trojan simply from visiting a compromised website. Therefore, I went ahead and did a factory reset, just to be safe, but I still have some concerns, as some posts said that that doesn't always get rid of all of the malware.

I did not jailbreak my phone, and I purchased it through my mobile carrier, so it came from a reputable place. My iOS was also up to date at the time.

I know I am probably being paranoid, but I just want to make sure all of the information on my iPhone is secure.

Thank you for your help!

iPhone SE, iOS 11.2.5
