Apple's Shared Albums Limits
I'm was in the process of moving my rather large collection of photos and albums from Google Photos to Apple Photos, primarily out of privacy concerns with Google. These photos and albums date back to 2003 with almost 250 albums. Creating and sharing photo albums is important to my family & friends and myself as I'm the family photographer. I quickly ran into Apple's surprising limitation on uploading photos and shared album. I was stunned! I would never had thought Apple would place caps on their customers and in such a limiting way.
- I paid for the 200 GB family storage which I cannot use due to these caps.
- It seems unreasonable that as time goes on, 200 albums would be enough for many.
- Per Apple Support page, these limits are "to prevent unintended or excessive use"; what does that mean? Again, I paid for the storage. Shouldn't I be able to use it? I can see this being policy if the service was free but it's not.
- These limits seem like a good way to prevent new Apple users from taking full advantage of the Apple ecosystem. Placing arbitrary limits on your paying customers makes no sense. None.
- This policy is a contradiction the way Apple pushes their camera and photo abilities in their advertising.
I'm just frustrated because of the time I've spent on this already and it seems like this transition wont be possible due to these limits. Is there anything I can do to continue the move to Apple Photos?
