I believe the thunderbolt display cable is bad. There are intermittent problems with display when connected to 2 different computers. When on the mac mini, the computer shuts down. When it happens when connected to my MBP, the MBP screen becomes active. Is the display cable replaceable without removing the screen?

It can be replace but requires disassembly of the unit (start with screen removal). I would connect using a TB cable to TB port on the display to test to see if indeed it is cable related before a tear down.

You can connect using a Thunderbolt cable and the Thunderbolt port at the back of the display.

I was asking about the TB cord that comes out the middle of the back of the machine, just below the power cord. This cord also contains a charging connection for MBP's, at least mine does.
