Windows won't boot after loading bootcamp drivers

TLDR: Bootcamp on the latest model 27" iMac (2017) does not work with the current release of Windows 10 (v1709).

I'm on the latest iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) (Mac OS v10.13.3), running Windows 10 home edition (v1703) in Bootcamp. It worked fine for several months until Microsoft pushed an update to Windows 10 Fall Creators (v1709). From that point on, Widows refuses to boot. It hangs on a blue screen giving me the options to Continue to Widows or to Troubleshoot. Continue to windows either inevitably ends up back on the same screen, or sometimes puts me on a screen saying "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart."

Selecting Troubleshoot gives me the options of resetting Windows and reinstalling the OS. I have done that. One time it worked, usually it just fails to reinstall the OS and I have to delete the partition in Bootcamp Assistant and start over. When it did work, however, as soon as I ran Bootcamp utilities setup.exe installer from within Widows, the problem recurred.

To troubleshoot, I have gone into Bootcamp Assistant on the Mac, removed the Windows partition, then reinstalled Windows fresh from re-downloaded v1709 ISO. Windows will boot once, but again, once Bootcamp utilities are installed inside Windows using setup.exe, Windows then fails to boot properly in the same way. I have done this half a dozen times. Each time, Windows won't boot once the Bootcamp utilities are installed on an otherwise pristine install of windows 10 v1709.

To make sure it's not something odd with the volume structure, I have booted into network repair mode, erased the boot volume in terminal, then recreated the core storage volume and restored my boot drive from a backup.

No matter what I try, I cannot get the latest version of Windows to boot once I have installed the latest Bootcamp drivers.

My solution has been to download an ISO of the previous Windows 10 (v1703) and use that in Bootcamp Assistant to create the Windows partition, then disable automatic update in Widows so that it doesn't download 1709. 1703 continues to be stable.

Is anyone else having this same issue with a new 27" iMac running the latest Windows 10 release with the Bootcamp drivers? Any ideas why Widows is failing to boot, or what I might do about it?

I had a similar issue just yesterday. I also have a 2017 27" iMac 5K. After updating Windows 10, it failed during the reboot. I was locked into a never ending cycle of Windows boot/fail/reboot (though once I was able to boot into Safe Mode). I eventually found a post online from someone with a similar problem on a MBP. He believed it was related somehow to the USB-C drivers. So, on a whim, I disconnected all USB cables (except for the keyboard) and Windows booted without problem. Not sure if it was related or I just got lucky, but at least I was able to log in and set boot camp to reboot into MacOS. I'll revisit this problem at a later time. Good luck.
